Sofía grew up in the mountains, yet has endless footage of the ocean on her phone. She thrives in big urban areas like Mexico City. Dance has been her refuge from age three and painting was her first mode of self-expression — today, movement and strong visuals are present in all her work. Her work as a scholartist brings together Theatre and Film Performance Theory, Women’s Studies, New Media, and Mexican Culture, utilizing all these viewpoints to center the celebration of women.

Favorite acting credits include Henrietta in Silent Sky, Titania en A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Emily Webb en Our Town, Ofelia Enamorada en Ophelia y Mónica en Acapulco . Her most recent theatre directing credits include Los Lobos y The Convent of Pleasure. Her first short film as a fiction director, Sleeping Wide Awake, is now making the rounds in the festival circuit.
